How do you feel about the approach to public realm?

Neutral

Which of the two development options would you like to see in the public realm (in front of the site)?

Option 2 - landscaped open space

Please explain why you chose this option

There is already more than enough space for the banal events (fake farmers' markets and suchlike) that the council thinks people want in Wimbledon. Bear in mind that the area will be entirely sunless due to the proposed development and existing tall buildings so I think it's unlikely that anyone will want to sit around there.

Overall, what is your opinion of the plans to redevelop?

Unsupportive

The design lacks any kind of architectural style, makes no particular statement and isn't environmentally friendly. As a new development it should be made zero energy.

There are already plenty of more suitable places to hold events in the centre of town. People just will not bother to walk all the way down the Broadway for an event.

I am TOTALLY against a development of 15 storeys! That is completely out of character with the area, 10 storeys should be the absolute maximum for any development in this area. Nowhere in the given documentation is there any indication of parking for Y gym members. This seems to be all part of a general plan to remove the Y gym from Wimbledon anyway. - though happy to be corrected on this impression gained over the past 10 years! Rest assured that, if there is no parking provided for Y gym members, I and many others will find somewhere else that actually cares about its paying members and provides a more welcoming service..

More breenery with this option. The other option would be noisier which is undesirable especially for nearby residents.

The management of the open space is crucial as it will otherwise become shabby and become a haven for anti-social activity.

As an owner of property opposite this location there is already significant noise pollution from the site. 2 key drivers of this are: the dance where instructors play very loud music which travels across the street; and residents of the YMCA congregating outside the entrance at night often whilst drinking and smoking. This oftens impacts sleep especially in Summer months when windows must be open. I appreciate the outside space from a design aesthetic, however any plans for outside space must be evaluated in terms of the potential for further noise pollution in the area. Therefore I do not think it is appropriate to host events in this area.

Perhaps creating a courtyard area within the 3 buildings specifically designated for smokers at YMCA would lessen the impact of anti-social behaviour to surrounding residents.

This would make the new building giving a better layout & for the users not to crowd already busy Street.

The accommodation proposed number of floors & height of the building appears to be disproportion to the neighbourhood. We don't want a DownTown Chicago Towers in already congested road. There will be room for buses & other public transport users .
